I am totally astonished.
The
Emergency Debate which was supposed to be asked today was postpond due
to the Canadian Governing Party blocking the request with a procedural
vote.
I am
sending you a copy of the statement which the Government of Canada
issued regarding the Elections in Venezuela also I would point out my
difficulty with this statement and call upon you to get even more people
to sign on the petition requesting an emergency debate on the Elections
in Venezuela. Please pass this request to your family, friends,
relatives and neighbours.
Read it on line and you will notice they absolutely say nothing
and do nothing to condemn the way President Mauro is handling the
crisis. Also the fact that both parties have agreed to a recount is
absolutely false.

April 17, 2013 - The Honourable Diane Ablonczy,
Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs),
today issued the following statement:
“We congratulate the people
of Venezuela for their high level of participation in the recent
presidential elections and for their commitment to democracy.
“The
Venezuelan National Electoral Council indicates a very close result. We
note that both candidates had agreed to an audit of the votes. The
legitimacy of democratic governments rests on the confidence of the
people they represent. Due process must take place in order for that to
be achieved.
“Canada calls for a peaceful resolution to the
tensions that we have seen, respect for diversity of views and space for
political dialogue in this difficult environment.”
