Soros Warns of ‘Riots,’ ‘Brutal’ Clampdowns & Possible Total Economic Collapse

George Soros is no stranger to Blaze readers. The billionaire currency speculator and philanthropist has long been in the news, especially since the fateful day in 1992 when he helped crash England’s economy. In fact, since that day, he has been commonly referred to as “the man who broke the bank of England.”

Soros is shrewd, he has a keen eye for investments, and he knows how to play the markets. Therefore, when he makes a prediction, it might be safe to say it’s worth a listen. After all, his predictions (among other things) have made him the multi-billionaire he is today.

So you might want to pay attention to a recent story from The Daily Beast that claims George Soros is nervous about the future of the global economy and that he warns of dark things to come.

“At times like these, survival is the most important thing,” Soros said.

As he sees it, the world faces one of the most dangerous periods of modern history—a period of “evil,” writes the Beasts’ John Arlidge. “Europe is confronting a descent into chaos and conflict. In America [Soros] predicts riots in the streets that will lead to a brutal clampdown that will dramatically curtail civil liberties [emphases added]. The global economic system could even collapse altogether.”

And to add a little color, Aldridge notes Soros says it all while “peering through his owlish glasses and brushing wisps of gray hair off his forehead.”

“I am not here to cheer you up. The situation is about as serious and difficult as I’ve experienced in my career,” Soros told Newsweek. “We are facing an extremely difficult time, comparable in many ways to the 1930s, the Great Depression. We are facing now a general retrenchment in the developed world, which threatens to put us in a decade of more stagnation, or worse. The best-case scenario is a deflationary environment. The worst-case scenario is a collapse of the financial system.”

Soros and Hillary Take on America

Radical anti-American billionaire George Soros is going all-in for Hillary Clinton’s yet to be officially declared run for the presidency in 2016.

And because Soros’s wealthy leftist friends often follow his lead, a tsunami of early money may be poised to swamp the former U.S. secretary of state’s zygotic campaign.

Soros is lending his name to the “Ready for Hillary” super PAC, giving $25,000 to snag a co-chair post on the organization’s National Finance Committee. Soros’s political director Michael Vachon confirmed Soros’s involvement with the super PAC.

“George Soros is delighted to join more than one million Americans in supporting Ready for Hillary,” Vachon said. “His support for Ready for Hillary is an extension of his long held belief in the power of grassroots organizing.” (Soros also gave $2,300 to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign.)

After pledging for the umpteenth time to abandon electoral politics, Soros keeps allowing himself to be pulled back in. A currency speculator and convicted inside-trader, Soros is a practiced hand-wringer who frequently tells gullible reporters he is getting out of electoral politics altogether. This is his mantra between elections even though he never actually follows through on the threat.

George Soros's Former Chief Strategist Joins Zuckerberg Immigration Group

The former chief strategist for left-wing billionaire George Soros has joined Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg in an effort to push amnesty for America’s illegal immigrants, Bloomberg reports.

Stanley Druckenmiller, who Bloomberg reports served as Soros's “chief strategist” for “more than 10 years” as a client money manager, has joined Zuckerberg’s efforts at FWD.us to push for comprehensive immigration reform. 

Druckenmiller served as the lead portfolio manager for Soros’ Quantum Fund from 1988 until 2000. According to Bloomberg, he “produced average annual returns of 30 percent at his hedge fund Duquesne Capital Management LLC” from 1986 through 2010.

In addition to hiring Druckenmiller, Zuckerberg funds former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour’s “Americans for a Conservative Direction.” According to the New York Times, that group has been one of the many special interests at the forefront of trying to push conservatives in the House of Representatives to support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. The Times wrote recently that Barbour’s Zuckerberg-funded group “has been running ads in Iowa lately that implore those watching to ‘stand with Marco Rubio to end de facto amnesty.'”

The Mexican government once paid Barbour to lobby on behalf of amnesty for illegal immigrants inside the United States.

Other special interest groups are lobbying for the House to pass an amnesty program, as well.

The American Action Network, a group led by former Minnesota Republican Sen. Norm Coleman, has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on television and radio ads pushing the Senate’s immigration bill in the House. Coleman founded the American Action Network with Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign National Finance Committee co-chair Fred Malek. In addition to his various roles in politics, Malek is the founder and chairman of Thayer Lodging Group.

Karl Rove is similarly spending money pushing amnesty. “Certainly the way in which the bill is perceived and Rubio’s own political fortunes are closely entwined,” Steven Law, the president of Rove’s American Crossroads, said a few weeks ago. “Our first priority is to promote and advance immigration reform, and to talk about the ways this advances conservative goals. If we do that we will not only be helping to move legislation, but it will also protect those who stuck their necks out like Rubio.”

Before those special interests started their lobbying and advertising campaigns for amnesty in the House, most of House GOP leadership seemed to brush off the Senate’s bill. After weeks of pressure from these special interests, however, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor will hold a hearing on his version of the “DREAM Act” on Tuesday, an amnesty provision for young illegal immigrants. 

Beyond Druckenmiller's role, several Soros-backed groups are involved in the effort to pass amnesty. As Breitbart News has reported, the Evangelical Immigration Table (EIT) and the National Immigration Forum (NIF) are funded by the progressive billionaire.

Back in 2009 the Obama regime announced it was going to “loan” Brazilian oil giant Petrobas $10 billion. It just so happens, as was reported at the time, George Soros bought controlling interest in the state controlled oil company, just before the “loan.”

It was also reported at the time the China Development Bank made a similar loan to Petrobas.

Just a year ago Obama was in Brazil telling them he wanted to help them with America technology and other tangibles. He also said he wanted the United States to be one of Brazil’s best customers:

BUENOS AIRES — Off the coast of Rio de Janeiro — below a mile of water and two miles of shifting rock, sand and salt — is an ultradeep sea of oil that could turn Brazil into the world’s fourth-largest oil producer, behind Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
The country’s state-controlled oil company, Petrobras, expects to pump 4.9 million barrels a day from the country’s oil fields by 2020, with 40 percent of that coming from the seabed. One and a half million barrels will be bound for export markets.
The United States wants it, but China is getting it.
Less than a month after President Obama visited Brazil in March to make a pitch for oil, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff was off to Beijing to sign oil contracts with two huge state-owned Chinese companies.
The deals are part of a growing oil relationship between the two countries that, thanks to a series of billion-dollar agreements, is giving China greater influence over Brazil’s oil frontier.
Chinese oil companies are pushing to meet mandatory expansion targets by inking deals across Africa and Latin America, but they are especially interested in Brazil.
“With the Lula and Carioca discoveries alone, Brazil added a possible 38 billion barrels of estimated recoverable oil,” said Luis Giusti, a former president of Venezuela’s state oil company, PDVSA, referring to the new Brazilian oil fields.
“That immediately changed the picture,” he said, adding that Brazil is on track to become “an oil giant.”
During Mrs. Rousseff’s visit to China, Brazil’s Petrobras signed a technology cooperation deal with the China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., or Sinopec.
Petrobras also signed a memorandum of understanding with Sinochem, a massive state-owned company with interests in energy, real estate and agrichemicals.
The Sinochem deal aims to identify and build “business opportunities in the fields of exploration and production, oil commercialization and mature oil-field recovery,” according to Petrobras.
The relationship with China goes back to at least two years before Mr. Obama came to Brazil to applaud the oil discovery and tell Mrs. Rouseff:
“We want to work with you. We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and, when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.”
China rescued Petrobras in 2009, when the oil company was looking at tight credit markets to finance a record-setting $224 billion investment plan. China’s national development bank offered a $10 billion loan on the condition that Petrobras ship oil to China for 10 years.
A chunk of Brazil’s oil real estate appeared on China’s portfolio in 2010, when Sinopec agreed to pay $7.1 billion for 40 percent of Repsol-YPF of Brazil, which has stakes in the now internationally famous Santos Basin, and the Sapinhoa field, which has an estimated recoverable volume of 2.1 billion barrels. Statoil of Norway also agreed that year to sell 40 percent of the offshore Peregrino field to Sinochem.

The obvious question is why did Obama give all of that money to Petrobas, knowing the Chinese already had deals in place that would give them control over what happened with the oil?

Oh that’s right:

Reading the Constitution, there are very narrow and specific definitions of treason. That said, what Obama has done and is continuing to do must somehow rise to the level of a crime that he should be punished for. Something stronger than impeachment, which would only see him removed from office, something that will [hopefully] happen after the November election.

Obama is purposely doing anything and everything to destroy America’s ability to become energy independent, while at the same time doing anything and everything to enrich his cronies.

George Soros and Warren Buffett are making out big time thanks to Obama’s oil policies, and there are dozens of “Solyndras” out there who have stolen tax payer money under the guise of “green energy” and “saving the planet”!

People need to go to jail over this stuff. A lot of people. Starting with Obama.

What Happened To George Soros' Secretaries of State Project?

The Secretary of State Project, the once influential group backed by billionaire philanthropist George Soros, has either gone into hiding or informally disbanded.

What happened? Did the group just disappear? Well, before we investigate the group’s possible demise, perhaps a quick history lesson is in order.

The Secretary of State Project was created for the sole purpose of stopping Republicans from “stealing elections” (the project’s founders were a little sore about that whole Kathleen Harris thing). So how did the group plan to accomplish this? Simple: financially back and “get out the vote” for like-minded (i.e. “left-leaning”) candidates running for secretary of state.

“In most states the secretary of state is the chief elections officer, so putting left-wingers in the often-overlooked but critically important office allows these political radicals to manipulate the electoral process,” writes Matthew Vadum for the American Spectator.

“This is what liberals call ‘election protection,’” he adds.

Add billionaire donor George Soros and the Democracy Alliance, “a billionaires’ club that funds left-wing political infrastructure,” to the mix and the Secretary of State Project quickly became an organization capable of making or breaking candidates running for state secretary.

It’s a brilliant idea, really: form a group capable of donating massive amounts of cash to a like-minded candidate running for an office that although commonly overlooked, and therefore relatively cheap to campaign for, is responsible for certifying elections.

After all, as Vadum notes, it was Joseph Stalin who once said: “The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.”

The idea of controlling who counts the votes is hardly original. In fact, Secretary of State Project co-founder Rebecca Bond once said:

Any serious commitment to wrestling control of the country from the Republican Party must include removing their political operatives from deciding who can vote and whose votes will count.

The group was initially successful.

“They helped to elect Saul Alinsky-inspired community organizer Mark Ritchie, the ACORN-loving Minnesota secretary of state who presided over Al Franken‘s theft of incumbent Republican Norm Coleman’s U.S. Senate seat in the 2008 election cycle,” Vadum writes.

And everything was going smoothly for the organization until President Barack Obama decided to pound through his unpopular health care bill. When “Obamacare” passed, wealthy groups like the Secretary of State Project were powerless against the 2010 Republican “Red Wave.” That year, out of the seven secretary candidates backed by the Soros-funded project, only two won.

Apparently, it was all downhill from there.

Since the 2010 losses, the Secretary of State Project has gone eerily silent. As the American Spectator notes, the project’s website has been offline since July 2011. The group’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and Twitter account have not been updated since 2010.

“The group hasn’t endorsed any candidates for the 2012 election cycle and its most recent IRS filings show almost no financial activity since the 2010 election cycle,” Vadum reports.

Did the “Republican electoral tsunami” destroy the Secretary of State Project’s standing? Perhaps, Vadum writes. Many signs would seem to point to it — but you’re not going to hear that from the group’s leaders.

When contacted by the American Spectator, Rebecca Bond, the group’s aforementioned co-founder, refused to offer a comment on the status of the group.

And she wasn’t the only one keeping silent.

“Wayne State law professor and community organizer Jocelyn Benson, who was beaten decisively in blue state Michigan by Republican Ruth Johnson in 2010, failed to return telephone calls,” Vadum reports.

“Benson, who lost by five percentage points despite running in a blue state, being endorsed by the Secretary of State Project, and outspending her opponent by a quarter of a million dollars, failed to return telephone calls,” he adds.

Perhaps the project is defunct. Perhaps it’s just keeping a low profile. The group’s status is uncertain. However, what we do know is that several of the major players associated with once powerful Soros-funded project, including James Rucker of “Color of Change” fame, have set their sights on another major voting issue: voter ID laws.

Soros’ Insider Trading Conviction Upheld

 

George Soros, the hedge fund billionaire, has failed in his latest attempt to overturn an insider dealing conviction handed out in France 23 years ago. The European Court of Human Rights rejected his argument that French law on insider trading was not sufficiently clear to provide grounds for a conviction. Soros's lawyer, Ron Soffer, said that he would appeal the ruling. "Mr Soros has maintained that he did not commit any act of insider dealing," he said, adding that "many issues" were still unresolved and that he was confident the ruling would be over turned on appeal.

The former FBI informants being honored by ASI are:

• Larry Grathwohl joined the Army in 1964, wanting to go to jump school and be assigned to the 101’st Airborne Division. He got his wish and was assigned to the 2/502 Infantry and was sent to Vietnam in July of 1965. After completing his tour he was assigned to Ft. Knox, Kentucky, and became a Drill Instructor. Upon receiving an Honorable discharge, and while attending the University of Cincinnati, he was recruited by the Cincinnati Police to infiltrate the Weathermen. He would later be working for the FBI and become the only person to go underground with what became known as the Weather Underground. After his cover was blown, he testified before several Federal Grand Juries, the U.S. Senate and at the Mark Felt/Ed Miller FBI trail. He wrote the 1976 book, Bringing Down America (with Frank Reagan), detailing his experiences.

• Brandon Darby was once a prominent radical who worked with former Black Panther Party members, Palestinian and various other radical groups. However, he rejected the increasing radicalism of his associates and would go on to become an FBI informant in a group that was planning violence at the Republican convention in 2008. He worked with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, helped stop violence against U.S. and Israeli citizens, and provided evidence used to convict two radical left-wingers of domestic terrorism. For this, he has become a major target of the radical left.

The latest issue of The New York Review of Books contains a strange article by none other than George Soros, chairman of Soros Fund Management and of the Open Society Foundations and, although the literary review does not see fit to mention, funder of scores of different left-wing institutes and foundations. Although Soros writes apparently to let his audience know what his hopes are for his work to endure after his death — the title of his article is “My Philanthropy” — he explains that his one hope is to make sure that in our own country “the government upholds the right of all people and adheres to the restrictions on state power established by the Constitution.”

For a brief moment, Soros sounds like a rock-ribbed conservative, concerned with fidelity to the Constitution and curbing the power of big government. But have no fears — that is not Soros’s intention. In Eastern Europe in the age in which the nations there were under Soviet captivity, Soros notes that he started “with supporting critical thinking or dissident activity.” Certainly, even he must know that the United States has little resemblance to the nations held under the realm of Soviet power in the Cold War days. Indeed, as he writes, “The United States has been a democracy and open society since its founding,” and the idea that it might cease to be “seems preposterous.”

In his very next sentence, however, Soros writes that, in fact, the end of democracy in America “is a very likely prospect.” How? Some might think he would be about to suggest the bypassing of Congress by the executive; the move to institute unpopular programs that extend the power of government by stealth means, like ObamaCare, or to issue executive edicts that accomplish what the president desires and what Congress opposes. But no, this is not the danger to which Soros points.
