Major U.S. Union Denies Alleged Discussion of “Cuban 5”

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) spokeswoman Jenice Robinson today denied Cuba’s claim that the union studied the case of the “Cuban 5” at its International Convention in late May.  Using the headline “Important Workers’ Union in US Discusses Cuban 5 Cases, the Cuban news service Prensa Latina (PRELA) claimed “…the cases of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters was analyzed in Denver…during the Convention of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).”    Robinson asked Cuba Confidential, “Analyzed by whom?”  She also noted that the Cuban 5 was never “part of SEIU’s agenda” nor was it “part of SEIU's convention resolutions.”
