Colonel Moammar Gadhafi's son said on Friday that the militant group al-Qaida was behind the uprising in Libya and urged European government to send a fact-finding mission to his country. Speaking in English during a news conference in Tripoli, Saif al-Islam reiterated what his father told Libyan state TV in a phone call on Thursday, when the Libyan leader blamed al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden for the chaos in Libya and claimed al-Qaida followers had given young Libyans drugs to get them to revolt.
