Henry Urrutia recorded his first three-hit night in the big leagues on Monday in Kansas City. The Baltimore Orioles DH recorded three singles to the opposite field, one of which drove in the O’s fourth run of the ballgame.
Since being called up, Urrutia is 4-for-10 with two RBI and two strikeouts in three games played. He’s already greatly improved the production of the Orioles DH’s who have hit just .199/.256/.378 on this season (25th in baseball).
While watching Urrutia in the batter’s box, it’s easy for gloss over his incredible journey from Cuba to the Major Leagues. Over on the Orioles subreddit, mta000 posted an interview with Urrutia from February of this season in which he details leaving Cuba illegally to play baseball in America and support his family.
