Tightrope walker pushes Ont. to OK Niagara Falls stunt

TORONTO - Nik Wallenda, a descendant of the famous Flying Wallenda Family, met with the Ontario government on Friday in the hopes of getting permission to perform a daredevil tightrope walk over Niagara Falls.
New York State has approved the 550-metre walk but Ontario hasn’t given the green light.
“It was a great meeting. I explained the process and the skill level involved,” Wallenda said. “This is a science, not a stunt, that my family has been doing for 200 years.
“This is my passion.”
Ontario Tourism Minister Michael Chan says meeting with Wallenda gave him more information on security and the economic impacts the event could generate.
“It was a good meeting and a wonderful conversation,” Chan said.
