Russian mining giant OAO Norilsk Nickel told investors it is looking at Cuba and other countries for expansion, as part of a plan to invest $300 million by 2025 to explore for nickel in areas it hasn’t been active yet.
“The company will not only develop existing projects in Australia, South Africa, Botswana and Finland but search for and value new ones,” Norilsk said in information material handed to journalists, according to the Moscow Times. Among possible options, Norilsk is looking into nickel deposits in Indonesia and Cuba, as well as copper deposits in Argentina and Peru, the company said in e-mailed comments.  More >
