Is Cuba ready for a real estate revolution?

A new day is dawning in Cuba under the administration of President Raul Castro, but is the country ready for the capitalist can of worms to be opened when it becomes legal to sell real estate for the first time in fifty years?
With a serious housing shortage but no “construction industry, permitting process or materials to build with” the flood of interest and money likely to roll in from Cubans now located in the States could result in chaos, much less confirm fears of renewed class disparity on the island. Indeed, Cubans are having a hard enough time grasping concepts those of us in capitalist societies take for granted, such as mortgages, tax rates and things as simple as hunting through or advertising in classified ads, a task currently handled illegally by people wandering the streets, notebooks in hand seeking those interested in relocating through swaps.
Though there will undoubtedly be plenty of money to be made in the new market, many residents are hunkering down to see how the chips fall once the government starts putting regulations in place and, if they’ll have anywhere to rest their heads once they cash in.
