A call for protests in more than 20 Chinese cities Sunday resulted in a tiny turnout but an enormous police presence and clashes with foreign journalists.The appeal asked people to walk slowly or stop in front of downtown landmarks at 2 p.m. local time. The idea was to emulate the spirit of the “Jasmine Revolution” in North Africa — but in a country where a strong security apparatus makes full-blown demonstrations almost impossible to organize.
